Our Why

Beneath the “what”—coffee, florals, baked goods, and garden retail—is our why.

Modern life often feels rushed, transactional, and loud. We believe people are craving something different: beauty, calm, and a sense of presence. Yet rarely are they given permission to slow down.

The Mercantile exists to offer that pause—a soft landing in the middle of the day. A place to breathe, to gather, and to simply be. A place to nourish the body and the soul.

Created in response to a growing desire for more intentional, experience-driven spaces, The Mercantile is an elegant garden café where traditional coffee, artisanal baking, seasonal florals, and thoughtfully curated, garden-forward goods come together.

But more than what we offer, it’s how it feels. This is not just a transaction—it’s a space to slow down, connect, and spend meaningful moments.

Guests are invited to stop and enjoy the blend of space, products, and hospitality.
Our Story

Bruno and Tricia met in the fall of 2019—marking the beginning of what has been a shared and ever-evolving adventure.

Early on, they discovered a mutual love of travel, food, and wine—experiences made even more meaningful through sharing them together. That same sense of appreciation for beauty, place, and connection would later become the foundation for The Mercantile.
Though their paths crossed later in life, they shared similar roots. Both grew up in family construction businesses, where they developed a deep respect for hard work, craftsmanship, and building something with intention. They also felt a pull toward a quieter, more rural setting—one that offered space to create and grow.

That calling led them to purchase and thoughtfully renovate an old farmhouse. Once the home was complete, their attention turned to the land—where gardens, raised flower beds, and open fields began to take shape. What started simply as a desire to make the property “pretty” soon became something more: a place that felt welcoming, personal, and worth sharing.

With a natural inclination toward hospitality, service, and entrepreneurship, Bruno and Tricia began to realize that what they were creating could extend beyond themselves.

In 2022, they purchased the property at Auburn Corners and began the design and construction of what would become The Mercantile—built with the intention of creating something lasting, thoughtful, and open for all to enjoy.
